This is my first attempt at wide-field mosaic. I took advantage of the dark sky over Tenerife island to capture 6 panels 3 x 10 minutes each with Canon 20D and 100mm f/2 EF lens. As the target area was moving over the horizon, individual panels were subject to different amount of light pollution, so I had to fight some gradients.
The 100mm f/2 EF lens is great in that it does not distort the image, so panels can be aligned by just shifting and rotating. After the panels were aligned, I had to match their individual contrast and signal level and than apply saturation boost and faded unsharp mask to bring out colors and dark lines. I am pretty sure I should be able to improve that one, in particular by making the seams less pronounced.
This is 30% size of the original image.
Camera with lens were mounted on my venerable Takahashi P2Z mount.
