(A masterpiece of the beat generation, Kerouac's 1957 novel)
Maybe 15 was too young to read 'On The Road' - I didn't understand half the references and motifs, and there was way too much booze and sex for my inexperienced young mind :o)). But it had a phenomenal impact on me - I remember plundering my older brother's bookshelves and stealing as much Kerouac as I could get - Dharma Bums, The Subterraneans and Big Sur...wonderfully free-flowing poetic prose describing fantastic places and characters...although his writing is fifty years old and describes America at a time which is long gone, Kerouac's narrative is still fresh and vibrant - a truly gifted writer
Apologies but this is a couple of days old - no time today to do any shooting, but this photo was taken specifically with the book and the Challenge in mind. You must know the drill by now! Minimal tweaking in ACR, a few layers of B&W and Curve adjustments in CS3 and there you have it! Oh yes, and I added some zoomed Radial Blur to make it look like I was whizzing down the slush-covered country lane with no thoughts for either myself or other roads users :o)
