This sure looks familiar......
It's a 25-foot, 6000-pound statue by J. Seward Johnson commemorating Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous V-J Day photo taken in Times Square on August 14, 1945.
Edith Shain, the nurse who was kissed, was on hand when the statue was placed in Mole Park beside the USS Midway. She was joined by many WWII veterans.
Nurse Shain had this to say about the famous kiss: '“During the moment of the kiss I don’t remember much, it happened so fast and it happened at the perfect time. I didn’t even look at the Sailor who was kissing me,” Shain continued. “I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment like any woman would have done.”
