The Yellow-legged Gull is a rarity in Scotland. It is a difficult species to identify in the field and it is even more difficult to get a sighting record accepted.
The bird photographed here was reported from Hogganfield Loch, Glasgow for several weeks in January/February 2009. This is of the western michahellis ssp. See my Turkey photo gallery for images of the eastern cachinnans ssp at https://pbase.com/ianfulton/turk_yellowlegull
