Dune 45

Sossusvlei, Namibia, Africa

Dune 45 is probably the best known and most visited sand dune in Namibia and it is a very popular one for tourists to climb even at sunrise. Miraculously there was only one other person on the dune and he or she offers a most necessary sense of scale to the image. I arranged this shot bisected by a sand blasted tree with one of the branches following the line of the glowing orange dune and I was very pleased to capture the wind blown jet of sunlit sand blowing off the top of this monster dune against a laser blue sky.
