It was always unlikely that Sossusvlei would fail to make its mark on me but I can honestly say that even I was astonished by the rainbow of colours that a pure blue sky, orange sand and angled sunlight could produce. This was just a scene that displayed a virtuoso of strong colours juxtaposed with slightly weaker hues that created such immense depth and an equally sweeping sense of satisfaction.
