Close to Sossusvlei's Dune No. 45 I spied a pale area of ground and wandered over to see why there was a colour change to the otherwise iron rich orange sand of the Namibian desert. It turned out to be a small salt pan and with the presence of the dessicated golden tumble weeds and the soft curves of the orange dune ridges set against a laser clear blue sky, I thought it made an interesting palette of both texture and colour.
