Ardvreck Castle is a small ruined tower on a narrow spit of land that juts out into Loch Assynt. It is a fairly insignificant building and difficult to isolate against the bulk of Quinag beyond, especially when both are illuminated. One solution is to climb a little higher and then the castle and spit of land are isolated from the far shore, in doing so the ruined house in the foreground also becomes part of the picture and to my mind adds to the sense of desolation that these vast open spaces in the North of Scotland are renowned for.
