2009 - Module_2_part2_image_2

Maximum highlight detail

Exposure was 1/60s. The washed out sky has regained its tone and so has all but a small part of the brightest facet of marble. The penalty is that the area of dark, detail free hollows at the bottom of the picture has increased. I much prefer this picture as the tones of the water and stone wall are much more interesting and surface detail of the marble figures is more striking all adding drama. Reducing the exposure by a further half stop kills the picture stone dead because the bottom half is too dark.

What a difference half a stop makes!
