China's beloved Pandas are intensively managed, to the point of captivity. After the devastating earthquake of 2008, many were captured for safekeeping. The chances of a foreign visitor seeing a wild Panda are virtually nil. The best place to see Pandas is at "Panda Base", near Chengdu, but it is essentially a zoo like experience.
