Kriegers Mond-Atlas - Band I, 1898 | Kriegers Mond-Atlas - Neue Folge, 1912

Kriegers Mond-Atlas - Neue Folge, 1912

Extremely rare and famous Atlas of the Moon, made by Johann Nepomuk Krieger at the Pia Sternwarte (named after his wife) in Triest (Italy). I bought this Atlas on August 15, 2012.
The 1912 edition consists of two seperate books: a first part called 'Text', the second called 'Atlas'.
The figures 1 - 31 are published in the 'Text' book.
The drawings with no. 29 - 86 are published in the Atlas.

Johann Krieger was a great artist with such an extraordinary drive, that it eventually destroyed him. So he is an inspiration and a warning at the same time. We should never forget Johann Krieger and remember him as one of the greatest. This gallery is to honor him.

This second edition was published in 1912, ten years after Kriegers death, and edited by Rudolf König, this gallery is also to honor him for keeping most of Kriegers work available for later generations.
