Joop's Dog Log - Friday June 04

Doing the dog thing. Oh boy!
I have this urge sometimes. Nothing I can do to stop myself.
I just need to do it. I have to. It begins with a strong smell. I sniff and I sniff.
I find nothing I can eat. But something is there, I just know it is.
Then the urge comes up.
My humans sees it coming and begins to yell at me: NO Joop, DON'T!!!
But it's already too late. I just have to roll in it. So I go down and I roll.
On my back, on my belly... and I become one with the smell.
Oh... that feels good! It takes me to heaven.
But this time the smell was too strong for my human's taste. My coat was sticky too.
So... they gave me a bath!
I don't like baths. I'm glad I don't get too many of them.
But once I'm in the tub and I feel the warm water, and my other humans soft hands,
I let it go. I think of it as a massage. Later I get even of course,
when I shake and spray everything in sight with water from my coat.
It's a dog thing, ain't it?

YES PARTNER! That`s real fun and everydog needs a visit in the perfume shop from time to time. Just these days those smells are so strong and inviting, bosslady took such a discriminating photo of Bosse...show you later! But, Joop, even if you say you don`t like bathing...you really seem to be very calm...when Bosse is to have a bath it is a heavy fight only to be won with minimum two humans. Once he did carve bosslady`s arm with a crawl and has left his "tatoo" forever. Hey, what is the white Puschel-thing hanging on the wall...new outfit ?

Well, thank heavens, it`s not a human thing! And that`s why the bath, dude. We love you guys, easily as if you were one of us, but we just cannot stand you when you stink! And yes, Joop, one dog`s perfume is another human`s stench, but there you have it. Since we claim alpha status, you just have to tolerate our fancies. Looks like you`ve got that all figured out tho. Good lad!

Oh Joop, you`re not alone. ZARA (yes, the DOGMISS ZARA!) was doing the dog thing on pentecost and I have to wash her with the hose in our garden. But don`t worry, it was a wonderful warm weather so she dried fast... :-) (Zara was not amused about the cleaning ... and the cold water from the hose) :) Hardy

Is it your turn now my friend? Well, we all have to go through this once in a while! Luckly it is only once in a while, our humans do it everyday... argh!! Ask for a beautiful towel afterwards! Ah, my babies will be born today, I will keep you informed, ok? Take care all of you. Oliver & Co.

I don`t know really why you dogs don`t like bath at all... shouldn`t be the cats complaining instead?? :) I take one bath per week. Every Friday my human takes me to the clinic and I stay there all morning waiting my turn for a bath. The employees said that I`m well educated because I stay the entire morning sleeping... :) Well, I just LOVE baths... sometimes my human gives me a bath... I stay quiet feeling the hot water in my back and hearing she singing english songs to calm me down... :) au au au Nicki

Joop, you know I had to have a bath every few days for the six weeks leading up to the silly dog show. But mom has not given me a bath since, so that`s OK. I`m hoping I can go all summer without ever getting in the tub ... but of course I`ll swim every chance I get. Your pal ... Heather

hello, it`s joop in the boudoir! i can imagine degas sketching away with his pastels in the corner ; ) well the directness of the method is a dog thing, joop, but humans have a funny thing for smells too. i`ve wanted to hose down people i was with in the past, just to dilute the strong smells they`d splashed all over themselves before leaving the house : P of course, some smells are so nice i could follow them off a cliff ...

It is a dog thing! I love to roll, too! The stinkier the better! You are very well behaved in the tub. Maybe I will try to think of it as a massage, hmmmm. Wonder if that will work? The reason it is illegal to play in my mom`s daylillies is we sometime break the stalks of her flowers. (It was an accident I tell you!!!!)

aaaaaaaa ! /belissima ( bela ) did the same thing today... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I was so angry at her.. but.. I know.. it`s a dog thing... i read somewhere that dogs do that to hide their own smell in order to be able to go hunting without being atacked. well.. we will never know... all I do know is that smells reeeeallly bad for me.. reeeeallly good for bela : )

I can't spell. ("matadorE"?) That's because a cat taught me phonics.
Starry 06-Jun-2004 04:04
Did Joop pick out that tile? Nice.

Does Joop dry off by playing Bull & Matadore -- diving into a hanging towel hung from human hands (before the towel can move away)?
Yvonne04-Jun-2004 07:02
Poor Joop... Does he run around like a mad thing afterwards too?
