Joop's Dog Log - Saturday May 01

Europe has grown today!
We have 25 countries now. Yesterday we had only 15.
The new European countries are Estonia, Latvia, Lithuvania, Poland,
The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Cyprus and Malta.
Most of these countries are not very rich.
Many humans in my country believe it`s going to cost the `old` European countries
a lot of money to help them. In The Netherlands 40% of the humans was against letting them in.
But now that they`re part of Europe these 10 countries will have true democracy,
there`ll be free trading, and traveling there will be easier for humans and dogs.
Next time my humans go to Malta, I can go with them!
So it will make Europe better. I`m ready to give up a few cookies for that.
I say: welcome, new countries!

Have a great weekend everybody.

Well said. In the long run I suspect it will be the best thing.

That`s very generous of you to cut your cookie ration. It`s sounds practical. Help these countries enter & they will pay it back, many-fold. Bless the Dutch & especially Joop!

Goedemorgen Joop. Groetjes DIEN.

Moin, Joop: first of all on this 1st of May: what a mega-super-klasse-job on dogmiss!!!But after that Dutch Queen`s day celebration at our human`s friend`s Theo`s place (he was dressed like the whole table in orange and the candels were in the Dutch national colors and they raised their glasses hundred times and more to have a toast on the royal family, friends around the universe, their dog Willy, the cat and so on ) it is too early for such tough topics and people in Germany working in the export branch (like bosslady) do have a more ambivalent point of view towards the new members of the EC....so we first will let the sunshine in and enjoy this beautiful morning in the fields....remember the BGs-song 1st of May?

Congratulations, Joop! I too agree that there is wisdom in allowing more countries to join. It benefits all of you in the long run, I think. You for sure if indeed you can go to Malta. I`ve been seeing photos from there and it looks just like yr perfect vacation.

I agree with you Joop. In the short term it may cost some money to help the economies of these countries. But the market inside Europe will get bigger so we will benefit from it in the long run. It is funny that most of these countries were our `enemies` not so long ago when they were part of the Warzaw pact... So I think this situation is lots better. Make peace. Not war.

i like what`s happeneing in europe, it does seem more democratic than before. personally i`m not afraid of a world governing standard, something like the united nations *should be - but it`s good that you`re getting together there and looking after each other. now for all the other continents ...
That`s "world governing standard", not "new world order" ... but the similarity is eery, and enough to warn that any form of government should be done with the greatest care. probably why i`ll never be a politician, apart from the bit about having to be popular.
yikes, i need to sleep. chains of fotolog ... snap. g`night.

Hey Joop, tell your human that lazy is ok after such a show....as we told you: our humans were only invited to a Dutch on this very day and he turned out to be a fun-machine, the quiet Theo in his orange pullover...it took bosslady the whole day to recover and our boss has his frist outdoor tennis team match this morning at 9.00...will be a heavy job for us to get them on their feet again..regarding the new ten we will surely have to wait and see. The representative of bossladys company in Riga is really looking forward to this new market, but the Germans have got the former GDR some years ago and the better life for everybody is farer to reach than ever....so take good care of your human...B&P

Well, they say there is strength in numbers, but as to the wisdom of letting these nations in...I simply don`t know enough about the functioning or politics of the EU to make even an educated guess. But I do know that your paws are going to need washing after that walk, Joop. Have a nice weekend.
