Joop's Dog Log - Saturday Feb 21

Today is the day when hundreds of thousands of humans in European countries-without-snow,
travel to countries that do have snow. They want to go skiing.
Most Dutch humans go to Austria or Switzerland.
They caused a sixty kilometers long traffic jam in Southern Germany this morning.
My humans never go skiing. So I never get to go either. That`s too bad.
I can see myself following them around in a ski resort, and even on a ski run,
with a small barrel of booze strapped beneath my neck, just like a Saint Bernard!

Very handsome, Joop!
It seems you`re delighted your human of the long walks has returned.
We have ski maniacs here, too. They wait in long car lines in blizzards in order to be the next to drive off the road. You really aren`t missing anything.

Hi Joop, you look like you`d be good at snow boarding to me. But the woods are just as fun, if not more! Have a fun weekend!!

So funny, my husband asked me to `make sure Joop knows that Malenko is The Dog of a Thousand Holds, The Ice Dog!`. It is wonderful that you know your pro wrestlers, Joop. Most dogs don`t!!

The first thing we learned in holiday times when driving in the "Käfer" to Austria with Grandpa Heinzi was: The d....Dutch and their Mobilehomes are the reason for EVERY trafice jam we come across.Snow is fun, but not too long - perhaps 4 weeks in the year with sunshine and no need to drive anywhere by car...then stop the whole thing...turn to summer till the end of year...

There`s that tail...never stopping for a minute. I leaned a long time ago that a wagging tail was the sign of a happy dog, and I`m sure that must be true of you.
You must think it is so funny about humans...sitting in traffic jams for hours to race down hills on these long, dangerous pieces of fiberglass. I myself broke my leg once skiing...and on a little tiny hill, too...so I have not even considered going since.
We had more snow last night...and I am as sick of snow as much as your humans would like some. You know how it is, Joop, humans are just never satisfied.
Enjoy your day.

Oh Joop, thank you for you lovely words to Miss POLLY`s birthday. Truth to tell, the master of the food is Geli, she made all these good tasting things for our furry friends.
Unfortunately Polly don`t like male visitors :-( One time I saw Polly chase away two huskies they want to flirt with her. Before Billy realized the situation Polly has cleared it for herself. The huskies never returned... a proud, defensive and faithfully lady.

Yes, Joop, you got it figured out, the humans here are admitting that they are tired of snow, they call it the February blues here, and in fact in a couple of weeks we have what is called the `march break`, when many people drive south for hours or even days to find a warmer place to bake in the sun for a few days, then come home to face the rest of the winter. I don`t know... it`s snowing again tonight and I just got back from a lovely walk, it`s so nice to have that fresh snow, I couldn`t stop dropping my chin to poke through it, and have a nice taste, so refreshing!
And I did see a little snow mouse today Joop - he was running along the surface of the snow so quickly - he`s so tiny he doesn`t sink like me!

Skiing isn`t all its cracked up to be Joopie, so don`t worry about it. My dad-human loves it.. but mom-human says its worse than a barrel of snakes.
wonder what that means?
PS Good "final" decision on Bela :)

You made my mom laugh! She says you can come to our house with a little bottle of booze under your chin anytime! (You would be welcome without the booze, too!) thanks for your visit, Midnight heard the joke from his Uncle Bob and thought it was funny. He did not intend to pass it off as his own, though he liked the idea of the dachshund outwitting the leopard!

My dad human takes me cross-country skiing a lot. I really like it since he got me nice booties so my feet don`t get sore. We only have to drive an hour to snow and we don`t go where all the other cars go. My housemate dog, Valor, goes with us too. She goes nuts, but you`re like that when you`re 3 years old. I like that we don`t get snow where I live but we can go to it easily. I like staying warm.

Oh, Joop, I love your idea of carrying "a small barrell of booze" for your humans. You are so funny and sweet. Hugs from me and kisses from little Story!
