Joop's Dog Log - Thursday Jan 29 (1)

This is the bat cellar in our park.
Bats can hide here and sleep through the cold winter months.
We got some snow again. So the bats must be hanging in there now.
Better not wake them up...
Humans seem to like bats. They want to help and protect them.
They even feed the bats sometimes. I wonder why. Bats are no pets.
They should be able to find their own food.
It`s probably all because of Bathuman...

Moin Joop, good to hear that you have got a tiny littel bitsy snow now....Dutch bats have a cellar of their own, really genereously.Güster`s bats favorize to have heir flats in the wooden roofs of the weekend houses and in summer you can see them flying in the dark.Last summer our neighbour invited us to a spontaneous bat-night..just to watch them and to count how many creatures of the night live in his house...36 vampires....

No kidding, Joop? Yr humans provide shelter for the bats? You know, I am beginning to wonder if yr humans aren`t some sort of super evolved species. It seems they have protected lots of animal habitats, and I never hear of them cutting down all the trees. Might just be, dude, that you really lucked out, living where you do. You deserve it, of course. But I must admit, I tend to keep Harry and The Woo away from yr f`log. I only visit late at night, when they`re asleep. Wouldn`t want them to find out just how good you`ve got it over there! Canine envy can be such an ugly thing.

Humans may think, if they feed them, the bats don`t take their blood? Nonsens!
I like the bats as much as I like all the creatures made by God. Although we shouldn`t forget that the name of God is within doG :)
Dogs are always something special ;-)
