As if it couldn’t get any worse: No heat

We woke up this morning to a very cold house because the boiler in the basement isn’t sending hot water to the radiators in all our rooms. Our heating contractor said he’d come by when he could, and it can’t be soon enough. Tim brought up a small space heater for my office, which helps a little, but I’ve been working on my computer with frozen fingers all morning. It was 8F when we got up, but it’s now gone up to 18F so at least not as bitterly cold.

Sorry for the old picture, taken on Sunday when the sleet was falling, but it looks pretty much the same today, except everything is covered in ice, not snow. We can’t get the car out of the carport since the ice is now impossible to break up, plus the alley is impassable anyway.

The icy scene today, posted earlier:

Hope you get your heat back soon. I remember going without power (including heat) one Winter for 9 straight days. Not fun!!! Ice storms are the worst! Hope your pipes are okay. Your photo above looks pretty. What you're going through is awful.

Oof, that sounds brutal. The photo really captures that deep, bone-chilling cold.....
Hope the boiler gets sorted soon and warmth returns quickly....V

the crispness of this image is perfect for conveying a sense of cold, and the acuteness of the discomfort...super shot with such graphic strength..good luck with the heating system..

I can’t imagine having no heat! It sounds awful. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. Not having use of the car makes it worse. V

I think no heat is still better than no water or no power. No power is really a disaster. Your fingers are warm, but there's no computer to press your fingers on. Good luck, and stay warm. Great shot, impressive angle ! ~VVVV~

You’ve gone from bad to worse! I’ll bet your heating contractor is swamped with calls. Hope you get heat soon.

Cette couche de neige est bien épaisse. J'espère pour vous deux, que le chauffagiste pourra passer réparer vos problèmes de chauffage. V

You are really getting a winter blast, and it is lasting. Having no heat is so very miserable. I hope things are fixed ASAP. A pretty winter shot, however. V
