The piles of ice have hardened so much that people can’t get rid of them, and temperatures aren’t expected to go above freezing (32F) until Tuesday of next week. Luckily most of us shoveled the sidewalks in front of our houses on Sunday and Monday, but getting rid of it now is near impossible. The District requires residents to clear the sidewalks but has suspended leveling fines for a failure to do so because many residents simply cannot comply. And a snowstorm is predicted to possibly hit us over the weekend, which will only make the ice problem worse.
