The icy scene today

The piles of ice have hardened so much that people can’t get rid of them, and temperatures aren’t expected to go above freezing (32F) until Tuesday of next week. Luckily most of us shoveled the sidewalks in front of our houses on Sunday and Monday, but getting rid of it now is near impossible. The District requires residents to clear the sidewalks but has suspended leveling fines for a failure to do so because many residents simply cannot comply. And a snowstorm is predicted to possibly hit us over the weekend, which will only make the ice problem worse.

Unfortunately sounds like you'll just have to wait this one out. What a mess!

OMG. Can you please send some to the mountains around here!

I am glad I we departed town just before this all started! On the other hand, I am concerned about the pipes in the house.....

Wow, you really got a lot of snow and ice and cold weather. It is OK if the city is prepared for all the cleaning and sanding of roads, etc. But if not, it can make life difficult. What a great shot showing your current winter weather. V

No one’s prepared for this weather and probably you don’t have salt or ice chippers to help with the ice. Hope a thaw comes soon and the next storm misses you.

what a challenging adventure to deal with this much snow...all one can do is adapt, and wait it all out..

We deal with conditions like this every year in Western NY.

Yes, tomorrow it will be way below freezing here in NY, with the highest 14F. Global warming, huh? Stay warm, stay safe ! ~VVVV~

It´s not usual to have so much snow in the city, is it?...V
