Not your everyday snowplow

The city plowed some of the main streets, in this case using what looks like a converted pickup. I’ve only ever seen big trucks plowing the snow, so thought this was interesting. We did get snow in the middle of the night on Sunday, but that changed to sleet in the early morning hours, coating the streets and everything else with ice in the sub-freezing temperatures. Unfortunately, it won’t get above 32F until next Tuesday, so we’re trapped in a thick layer of slippery ice until at least then.

NOTE: I just read that many of the pickup snowplows broke down almost immediately from having to plow ice instead of snow.

Ice can kill even the hardiest of big snowplows. I don't envy all that you have gotten. In the old days, I've seen locals here helping Public Works out with trucks with a big plow on the front. But the salt spreader on the back of this one really is different.

Pickup trucks with plows and salters are pretty common here.

We see pickups with plows on the front quite commonly here, but only for plowing out residential driveways. Maybe the city doesn't have enough real ones? There is nothing worse than sheer ice. A very interesting shot. V

That is very unusual on city streets. I love the red lights. They are pretty. V

Welcome to the club, we all know what that's like ... Fort-Lauderdale seems so appealing right now.
