Several people have asked about Sahraa’s progress since I reported that she was suffering from cognitive decline three weeks ago. The prescribed medication didn’t seem to have any noticeable effect, and in fact she stopped eating a week ago tomorrow (Thursday). Our vet did blood work on Saturday and on Monday told us the results weren’t good but also weren’t conclusive, so he recommended we take her to an emergency vet for an ultrasound. After spending all Tuesday afternoon (literally) at an ER practice that performed a lot of tests and took X-rays but couldn’t do a full-scale ultrasound (and also couldn't determine why she wasn't eating), we were told to take her to another vet for an ultrasound and hospitalization to rehydrate her and to have her seen by their internist, where she is now. This was taken in the waiting room of the ER vet, where she was actually pretty perky but obviously wanted to get out of there and go home to some peace and quiet. We’re hoping for the best, but at this point I’m not expecting any good news.
