Temple of Apollo, Didyma

The Temple of Apollo in the ancient Greek sanctuary of Didyma, located on the coast of Ionia, now the present-day Turkish province of Aydın. Although this third temple on the site was never totally completed, the main body of was finished in 100 BC after some 600 years of construction.

I’ve decided I should get back to this gallery after a break of almost two years. I still have a lot of pictures from our first assignment to Turkey, 1996-2000, before I had a digital camera, although armed with my trusty Sony was easily able to post pictures online in other galleries during our second tour there, from 2003 to 2006 (and beyond due to my working for a newspaper in Istanbul).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
