Mount Joy Baptist Church, 1855, now The Churchill condos

The former Mount Joy Baptist Church, a pre-Civil War sanctuary built circa 1855 on Capitol Hill, was converted into condominiums known as The Churchill in 2017. They include an adjacent row house from the 1880s, only a part of which is shown here. A picture of the church when it was still operating as such can be found at http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/news/housing-complex/blog/13121753/church-flight-on-capitol-hill

A three bedroom unit measuring 1,665 square feet was listed last year for $1,329,000. Pictures of the interior can be seen at http://dc.curbed.com/2017/4/4/15178894/home-church-capitol-hill-churchill and http://thechurchilldc.com

Great shot of this very attractive building. Looking at the apartments, hard to believe this was once a church - at least they're not using the altar for dish washing !!! V

Oh, what interesting windows! I'm glad I live in a place where housing is extremely reasonable in price. V

I would never guess it was a church. The contractor did a great job. V

The prices are unbelievable for 1600 SF. If this is normal for folk in DC they make way to much money. Nice shot, Helen.

Is it worth that amount of money ? I guess for 1600 sq. ft. it is worth it, but when you add the monthly payment I wonder.

I'd have to pass the collection basket about a million times to be able to afford this place, but it does look like a cool spot to live.
