Home banking

This is the old City Bank building on East Capitol that has been converted into a private residence. Definitely not in the style of homes on the Hill, but I guess it’s in line with older commercial establishments here. There are actually a lot of old storefronts that have been converted into homes. The architects try to make them look homey, but you can always tell where those store windows used to be. The red house below is different from most of those but still looks to have been some kind of commercial building once upon a time.

A picture and article of the original City Bank building: http://dc.urbanturf.com/articles/blog/unique_spaces_the_bank_that_became_a_home/2193

NOTE: I changed the image to a closer view that shows some of the formal looking ornamentation on the building.

The eternally red house, posted earlier:

Manse is well captured amid the winter trees , revealing a significant but rather commercial and sterile architecture . V

I would be very happy to have this bank for a home - I really like the architecture - the windows are very attractive. Nicely captured Helen : V
