We were very close to the path of totality in today’s total solar eclipse, at 99.9 percent, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Since we didn’t have proper glasses, we decided not to drive to Sweetwater, which was within the band but where everybody in the area must have gone (with the result of gridlock in both directions). We met some people who gave us a pair of certified solar glasses, so we did see it, but pictures were impossible without a filter. It was impressive and eerie, but not as dark as I expected. Despite the timestamp on the picture, this must have been taken around 2:35 p.m.
I’m having a hard time here keeping up with comments and even posting pictures, but will catch up as I can.
