While walking around Old Diriyah one day, we came across a very unusual gate and were trying to look in when a man came out and invited us inside. It seemed to be some kind of place for social gatherings, and preparations were under way for a party that night. This room was in the main building on the premises, a place for men to gather and visit, known as a majlis. I looked at a close up picture of the fireplace, and the lines weren’t straight on it there, either.
