'Negative Incursions,' by Rula Halawani

By Rula Halawani, born in East Jerusalem, where she still lives, and taken during Operation Defensive Shield, the Israeli incursion into the West Bank in 2002 at the time of the second Palestinian Intifada. “ … the viewer is brought close to the people who have been evacuated from a glass building doomed to destruction and have dropped to the ground with their hands clasped at the back of their necks; the tank wheels are too close, and similar in shape, for comfort. Viewed in negative, the shards of glass on which they lie resemble the rippling surface of water.”

Just horrifying. Though the image, if one ignores the content, (how can one), is riveting.

presenting this alarming scene in negative greatly increases the drama...lying on shards of glass during the invasion cannot have been so pleasant..
