Industrial Riyadh

They actually do have some industry in Saudi Arabia, although I haven’t seen a lot of it around here. This is a huge cement plant outside of Riyadh city, shot from the opposite side of the highway (while driving past), through Tim’s open window, trying to avoid his head, the rear view mirror and the window frame ;-). Not too extensive a view, but I was happy I was able to get something as I’m not so sure one is supposed to photograph operations like this.

With all the new construction, there is a huge demand for cement here, and while they do import much of it, there is a push to develop new facilities to produce it themselves.

Previously unnoticed, posted earlier:

They have plenty of sand for making the concrete but not so sure about the water.

Industry is Always interesting and in many cases is not allowed to photograph as I dicovered in the past in the Harbour of Antwerp. They send two security guards with a car to chase my away. They were talking about Industrial spionage.
