Riyadh residents

We took a drive out near the airport last weekend (to see a building complex, or course) and passed by a large area with lots of camels. I guess it was the relocated Riyadh camel souk, which I haven’t been to since I first arrived here http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/riyadh_camel I took lots of pictures of the camels along the road, but we were just going too fast except for only a few of them to turn out.

Now that I’ve finished the Janadriyah gallery, I guess I have to go back to mainly Riyadh architecture, but I’ll try to find some other pictures, too, for variety! Although I can walk now without assistance, I simply can’t walk quickly or long distances, which makes going on any kind of holiday or adventure a bit difficult.

Lights out on Janadriyah, posted earlier.

In response to Ton, yes, they could actually be dromedaries, which are also called Arabian camels.

a little roadside treat...Prelutsky's kid's poem begins 'a dromedary standing still, resembles stilts beneath a hill'...

Still a useful mode of transportation, these camels. They get great mileage and go easy on fuel, I hear. Nice one, Helen! V.

Lovely to see these creatures still exist! Except for the electric wires, this could have been any century!
