We stumbled across this beautiful mosque – Asma Bint Alawi -- quite by accident as I had seen the dome from the road and wanted to a get closer look. Thinking it was just another neighborhood mosque, we were pretty surprised when we saw what was through the front gate!

I might make a small sub-gallery of mosques in Muscat as they were lovely with highly decorated domes and minarets, perhaps reflecting an Iranian influence, but for the time being will just post some pictures of this particular mosque, which was my favorite.

I have a huge number of pictures of the Grand Mosque that I may not be able to get to until after we return from vacation, but it was spectacular!
