All of our meals (except one lunch at the hotel) were eaten sitting on carpets laid on the ground with little “tablecloths” put down to prevent a mess. I always found it hard to figure out where to put my legs and would have to say this wasn’t the most comfortable way for me to eat. But the food was delicious! We were told we had to wear abayas for dinner, but then it turned out we really didn't need to as it was a private meal. I did have one on, but wow, was it hot with it in there!
This wasn’t a restaurant, but rather a large room in a restored part of Al-‘Ula’s old town to which food was brought for us. I found the ceiling and staircase quite interesting. Pictured standing are Meteb, our Saudi tour guide, and the birthday girl plus photographer.
This is one of five images taken in a restored old town building of Al-‘Ula.
