Heavy rain and flooding (2)

I don’t know how well you can tell from this image, but Riyadh has been hit with heavy rain over the last 24 hours. This morning, it’s just a light shower, but last night there was a huge electrical storm that caused severe flooding and knocked all the electricity out in the DQ for at least an hour (some people are still without power this morning). We were pretty unprepared for that since we don’t have any candles yet, so just made do with two flashlights. At least I had already cooked dinner!

Some local coverage on the storm and pictures of the flooding are at http://www.arabnews.com/news/478756

Another report with some scary pictures, but from their wording I think the news outlet wasn’t sure all the images were actually from Riyadh http://www.businessinsider.com/ridayh-rain-floods-city-2013-11

Another image from our soaked garden:

I agree with Stephanie. Have you considered that maybe it's you? I'll bet the plants are happy. V

If you want to have a refreshing rain in that desert, it's well worth it to spend time without power for a while. ~V

The gardens must have appreciated that even if the humans didn't!

Well it keeps the dust down and what little vegetation there is there must love it.

Funny how you need the context to appreciate this picture. I bet your lawn didn't mind:)

Yes, rather wet looking for the desert but I think the plants must love it. V

Wow! I guess at least there's no dust today!
