Mystery solved?

Thanks for all the comments, both public and private, on the puzzling focus of my previous shot http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/147925110 !

This was the alignment of the berries, but the first picture was taken looking from the right of this image. It's clear that the small OOF berry in the first picture was in front of the rest, and the berry with the drop in that picture was a bit further back than the third and focused berry. Whew!

This was also taken with a different lens with slightly different settings in-camera as kindly suggested by Longbachnguyen, and out of about 20 exposures this was the best I could do to get all three berries in focus, more or less, hand held. I think with a tripod I would have far better results, especially with the 105mm lens.

Great information you have received on your berry photos. We should probably all be putting up photos where we tried to do something that didn't come out the way we thought it would. A wonderful way to learn. This final photo is very attractive although I found the previous one quite interesting. Thanks for sharing. V

Not easy to do but you did it, and created a wonderful, sharp image, enhanced by the raindrops. Very nicely done! VV
