The Colorful Cows of Brussels

In 2003, on our way to another posting in Ankara from one in Okinawa, we stopped in Brussels as Tim had consultations there. I was thinking of redoing my Okinawa gallery when I came across these pictures from Brussels, which I don’t think I ever posted. I had found this exhibit so delightful, I’ve decided to do a small gallery on it, years after the fact.

I love seeing the Cow Parade. It was here in Houston in 2001, with 325 Art Cows. They raised about 3 million dollars for the Childrens Hospital. A business or group buys the blank cow (that is a donation, cows can cost 7,000) and then gets to decorate it and display it in the city.
I believe they've done this in 95+ cities for charity. I just love them. You got a nice collection of photos here! V

I think this all started with bears in Berlin. Now you found the cows in Brussels. Glitzy Cow is/was so popular they had to install a glass cage around her. Nice work, Helen! V

These are so cute! I think there was a Cows on Parade in the USA where large cows were painted by different artist. Trail of the Painted Ponies was a big hit many years ago and now a few small 6" - 9" collectibles are released each year.
