William Morrill Pingry
(1806 – 1885)
Attorney and Politician who served as Vermont State Auditor. Waitsfield town clerk.
Moved to Windsor County in 1841. First living in Springfield and later in Perkinsville. Served as justice of the peace, master in chancery and assistant town clerk
Served as Assistant Judge in both Washington and Windsor County. Served terms in both the Vermont House of Representatives and the Vermont Senate.
Founder and on the board of trustees of the Vermont Academy in Saxtons River. He was a devout Baptist and served for years as a church deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent.
1850 delegate to the Vermont Constitutional Convention
1853 – 1860 served as Vermont's Auditor of Accounts.
1854 – 1857 served as cashier of Bethel's White River Bank
1860 received an honorary Master of Arts degree from Dartmouth College
