Franklin House Hotel Guest Register 1854 - 1855

The Franklin House Hotel and Tavern was the primary hotel in Rutland, Vermont during the Stage Coach Period. It was located next to the Rutland County Courthouse. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1868 and was never rebuilt. The register contains over 250 pages of signatures including many famous citizens of the Rutland area as well as other states and countries. Many of the guests' lives are lost to history but many left their mark on history. I acquired the register and as of this writing am researching the guests who signed it. I will be posting photographs of the signatures of the more famous guests and where possible I will pair a photograph of the signature with a public domain photograph of the individual. I know this will be a very time consuming project. I will add to this gallery as it progresses. Thanks for looking, Blair
