Inventor and businessman; “Held every office within the gift of his town”; Represented Rutland County in the constitutional Convention of 1857; Represented Middletown in the Vermont legislature, 1866 and 1867; Discovered the Hot springs in Middletown and built a hotel that made Middletown a popular summer time resort area.
