COMMON LOONS. The young are about 11 days old in this shot. The water was quite choppy and it was quite windy so I only took a few shots and didn't stay long. It was in the middle of the day and there was no feeding happening. Dad could be seen at a distance. The young did not attempt to get on to Mom's back during the 20 minutes or so that I observed them. They were able to swim at a good pace. Just look at the paddle on the little one closest to Mom.
