ALSO ON THE MENU - WASPS

Three more images of the Purple Martins gathering food, but supper is delayed due to the banding of the young. This time the main course is WASPS. It beats me how they can stuff so many wasps into their beaks without getting stung big-time.

This image was taken with the D300 and my 300 mm VR f2.8 lens + 1.4 T.C.

Excellent series Hank ! One thing is odd , in french , this bird is " Hirondelle Noire " meaning word by word in english " Black Swallow " !? I think the real name in english is more appropriated ! ;) Thanks for the view ! Dom :)
