Opening the Nets

Birds are captured unharmed in “mist” nets made of ultra fine nylon mesh (like large hair nets). Each net panel is 8 to 9 feet high and about 55 feet long. The Lewiston station uses 15 net panels in two net lines. A banding session begins by opening the nets which otherwise remain closed or retracted so that birds will not be caught in them when the station is unattended

I am impressed by this photo essay, or rather, journal. The image quality may not bee hgood enough for Nationa Geographic but the story you tell is reflected in the images, I have so far enjoyed reading it and will continue from here next time. :¬)
