I was born here in 1950. My mother was Japanese and worked on the base. My father was stationed here. They never married. Later I was adopted in 1955 by another military couple. Charles Eugene (Gene) Johnson and his wife Katherine. They were from Gadsden, Al. I noticed there is a picture of someone else from Gadsden. When I was 4 months old 2 military men kidnapped me for some reason, but the police found me. My Japanese name was Junko Tawara. I stayed with mama-San and papa-San a lot and helped them in their china store while my mother worked on base. I remember going with her a few times when she cleaned quarters and some men holding me while she worked.
