Heriot Bay, Quadra Island

although island residents have long been involved in fishing, logging, and even mining (a century ago the short-lived Lucky Jim mine produced copper, silver, and gold), the largest employer today is tourism...the average population of about 2700 people can triple during the summer months, providing work for locals
