The twelfth edition of the Volvo Ocean Race started on 4 October 2014 in the Spanish city of Alicante. Nine stages, ten port races and 38,739 nautical miles (over 71,744 kilometres) later, the tri-annual round-the-world sailing event will end on 25 June in Gothenburg (Sweden).
From Alicante to Gothenburg
As stated, the Volvo Ocean Race starts in Alicante and ends in Gothenburg, but makes stops in Cape Town (South Africa), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Auckland (New Zealand), Itajaí (Brazil), Newport (Rhode Island, America), Lisbon (Portugal) and Lorient (France) during the six-month period.
