A bright spot in my bleak late winter yard.
Today is chilly, though. There's sunshine, but still some wind making it just a bit too bitey out there. Last night we had so much wind tossing around the pine boughs that it made me feel like I was at the ocean listening to waves crashing.
A voting day. I'll probably go vote, but later in the day. I have to say, I'm not too excited about the whole scene. Yet, when I try to imagine the perfect candidate... I can't even do that.
In other news...
I did get to Planet Fitness again, FINALLY, yesterday. Much needed! I'm not much of a fan of working out but at least doing a little bit can help fix up my aching body... and it's much more affordable than going to chiropractor or whatever. In the past I've done only cardio, no machines, so that I don't have to grip anything when my hands are not good. But, yesterday, too tired for cardio... just needed to repair my back somehow. The foot press did the trick! At one point, I folded my arms in front of me when the press platform came up toward me, and the extra bulk gave my back a really good crunch, kind of like someone walking on my back. For a split second it was painful, but then I felt great, and the 'fix' lasted all day.
I still sense the arthritis a bit, but the improvement has been long-lasting. I shall be hitting the gym much more often. (Though, Planet Fitness says 'not a gym.' Okay, whatever.)
Feb. 29th 2016 (-- the photo is old, and the book was already 'old', then!)
I don't have a new picture ready yet today, so I went looking for an oldie. Decided to pull out something from one of my Books galleries.
I have used this book, enjoyed making some things when my daughter was a little girl. I think I may find it useful again, in fact... have wanted to get back to some sewing. I have so much to do, though, that I don't know how I'm going to accomplish that yet.
What I really cherish about this book is that I very distinctly remember when I bought it. The shop owner, an elderly man who ran an old bookstore that my family loved to visit now and then for many years, didn't just ring it up and say 'Have a nice day,' but he gave me a very nice smile. That was probably also the last time I saw him... he passed on, and then his bookshop closed.
So, whenever I see this book, I see that smile!
-- I would like to add more today but, not only am I busy, but I'm having a very difficult time typing! I'm not sure if the problem is my computer, or my hands. So... I'm quitting right here for now.
...but not beautiful.
It's kind of bleak out there!
I went out to see if there was anything worth photographing, but with no snow on the ground right now, February doesn't have very much to offer, around here. Not that I mind having no snow... I have even been wearing my sandals, sometimes. Snow maybe on Wednesday, though, my radio says.
The cat spent his first full night outside in a long time... the low temp was somewhere near 32 degrees, but most of the night it was at least slightly higher. We could still get some very frigid temps before winter is done, but... maybe? Maybe we're done? (Ah, would be nice...)
I am drinking my (organic) coffee (black and no sugar, as usual) still, a dark roast. I think the only thing I'll eat today is some soup.
I've needed just a bit more outdoor storage space around here, and since I already had one of these sheds up, I decided to get the same thing again and put them almost back-to-back.
This particular Suncast item is a discontinued one but so far there are still some available. They do have another, slightly similar vertical shed, too.
Yes, yes, I know... a slightly messy yard. Which is one reason for getting another storage shed, of course.
I hate assembling things, but other than our old green couch and our dining table, and the old piano and bench... I have put together every piece of furniture around here. Cabinets, closets, tables, trash bins... desk, bed frames, chairs... you name it, I've assembled it! Price is part of the reason. Things you must assemble are usually considerably less expensive than things delivered whole. Another reason is that these assembly-required items tend to be smaller, more apartment-sized than are the 'real' versions... yes, I have a house, but it's really just a smallish cabin that was added-onto over the years.
I do have a site, at Blogger, but I think I'll eventually end that one. I don't add much to it anyway, and I simply have too many sites going... need to condense things a bit. I just would like to ramble a bit every day, write a simple entry -- no big presentations or magazine-type stuff at a blog site. I mean, if I have a day where my writing goes that way, then fine -- but for the most part I want to do an easy, casual, letter-writing style (for those of you old enough to remember what a letter is). Just to remember a few events and thoughts, and so on.
The white violets photo is a re-run from a former blog... and no, we don't have any of those here, yet! It's still winter, though we've had some beautiful days this month.
I am drinking my morning coffee (still), the classical music radio station is playing quietly, and my dog is snoozing away beside me. I can hear the bird moving around in his cage upstairs... the cat is sleeping happily in his latest new spot, a corner of the couch in the other room. That cat will use a spot for a few weeks at the most it seems, then he abandons it but insists that I make him a new one. I guess it's a survival tool... keep moving around so the coyotes and possums don't find you or whatever. Wish I could make him understand there are none of those guys in the kitchen.
Anyway... more later. Gotta start getting this day in motion. Even though I'm quite stiff and creaky, today. Bones, gotta move.
