Love This Chipmunk! ~ another oldie (today is 3/5/2016)
Chipmunk photo taken on 9/21/2006.
I've re-run this photo a few times. It's one of my favorite shots. I took this while walking around Old Sturbridge Village.
Was without internet for about a day and not looking forward to the task of getting it all fixed, but things have started working alright again. So yay, that saves me a long boring trip to the Verizon store.
Tired today. Very. Winter woes, I guess.
News... hmm, well, I put together a new dog bed today. Another Coolaroo bed so Bubbles can be comfy in the backyard (Speckle doesn't go there). Irritated my back quite a bit to do that, but I got it done.
Yeah, did other stuff too... but that's probably the most notable.
This is another 're-run' photo. Since it's a bit difficult now to upload new pics (from my mobile thing), I'll mostly recycle all my oldies. Though, it's easy to add some new stuff to my twitpic account every now and then.
Beautiful day outside today....

Time to reload the feeders
This finch did get some nyjer seed, nonetheless.

Ducks enjoying our 'beach'
It rained very hard last night. I wore boots the first time I walked the dog, then forgot to, next time. So I soaked my feet and (water-hardy) sandals in the nice poison-ivy-infused mud puddle/pond. Time will tell...
If I can't walk later today, guess I'll sit and play my concertina or something.
Listened to cd 'Hang It High, Hang It Low,' by Nathan And The Zydeco Cha Chas. I am SOOO going to enjoy going to their show!

Roses Two
It was a nice surprise to see these two roses in bloom. This bush usually doesn't bloom until early fall... I hope this doesn't mean we've skipped over any real summer!
Today is the 10th -- shot the pic yesterday.

Four-Arm Plant Hanger
Think I'll be able to grow some tomatoes upside-down? Will the local wildlife leave me any of them? Time will tell...
And time is on the move, so I need to get my plants in the two 'cages' asap.
I hope we'll have enough summer sun to grow things right.
(Shot the pic yesterday; today is 6/10/09.)

Podunk on his porch
Wanted to upload a larger version but my little mobile gadget didn't go for that.
Today is the 10th.
In case you're bored...
Here's a rerun worth a chuckle. (Uh, right?)
Actually feels like SUMMER today, for a change.
June is Accordion Awareness Month. Even though they recently eliminated the 'Best Polka' category from the Grammy Awards.
I've thought about it and have decided that my best teacher ever was my accordion teacher from way back when. Thanks, Mr. Cole. (This is not to say that I ever became much of an accordion player, really.)
Updated at PostPoems today, too.
Off to visit my rabbit.

Pansies Again
This is their fourth year, I think. They self-seeded once when we had a box of them set out. Nice to see them return, even though it's just a few.

Tom and Wendy like to cow-browse. It's peaceful.

Yay, I got a dumpster!
Not exactly my Mothers Day gift -- I got way nicer presents, for that!
But finally I can get rid of things easily. And, for the record you dumpster divers, it's not worth it. What I'm dumping is true trash! Unless you love dirty old broken chairs and the like.

Lilac Time
They're not quite fully open, but almost. Tomorrow. But, they're lovely today, still. It's nice to be able to be outside again!

Hey, I can still add something to my blog even though I only (by preference) have a mobile connection, now!

'The Fallen' (snow & darkness)
Here's another rerun...
Today is January 31, 2007
This photo was taken on December 15th of 2005. We've had very little snow here this year,
so here's a reminder!
Some of you will longingly reminisce, others of us (yeah, me!) will be reminded to be grateful for what we don't have.

Wishful Thinking
Mmmmmm.... I am so goin' there...!
This pansy photo is from July of 2007, but I just edited it again today, using the freebie tools at picnik.com.
(until I get a pic for the day...
then I'll move this to a new post):

Rocky Jake takes a ride to the vet today
This pic is almost two years old... but I don't have a good recent one.
'Bunbun' makes a trip to his doctor, today. Luckily, he's been a healthy bunny and so he doesn't have to go very often. It's a bit of a project to get him loaded up and on the road. Especially when he insists on doing the driving... heheh, just kidding.
This pic was taken on February 2nd, 2007.

Baby Parakeets
The largest one of the three is almost nine days old, in this photo.
There are a few 'movies' of these babies in the box.net widget below this image (click image to see). Yeah, there's a lot of poo... I'm not able to clean things up without disturbing them.
I've included my YouTube upload anyway, but the quality is very poor. It was better before the upload to YouTube -- but it's just a .MOV made with my digital camera. I guess I need a better format to get the best picture.

Icicles
This is what I have on my porch roof. NOT geraniums... sigh.

Geranium close-up
This photo and entry is from April 24th, 2007:
I was stunned to suddenly notice this beautiful geranium in bloom today!
I'd jokingly been calling it 'the tomato plant' because it was tall and green but -- no blooms, ever. (Not that tomato plants don't bloom, but, I mean, it was supposed to be a beautiful geranium!) I think I've had the plant for over two years, and it never bloomed until now.
Isn't it nice to look at it now? Since all there is all around is snow, snow, and more snow...!

Settling down into the ice and snow (...brrrr!!!)
I'm a bit too tired at the moment to start working on my plans, but I think soon I'll start shifting around my websites a bit to make the main deal be The Hallelujah Bums (...so, Bellowbelle stuff will be secondary or whatever).
This doesn't mean that I'll delete my various personal sites. Things will just be linked and related differently, that's all. I will still wander around the web thinking I'm 'Bellowbelle.' It's just that, offline, most of my musical efforts these days have more to do with the hbums, at least as far as socializing goes.
As for the ourstage.com sites I maintain... sigh... I like those sites, but since I don't use the sites for competitions (and, technically, am not allowed to due to relative-of-employee rules), a lot of the main features there are of limited use to me/us. So, I may decide to let what I've put there up to now just sorta 'rest in peace.' Dunno. Like I said, I'm tired!
Oh, I almost forgot the big news...
One of Gem's (my parakeet's) eggs hatched early this morning! So there's a little baby bird.

Gnome Convention
These are some of my gnomes. They hold meetings in a flower pot on the porch. I'm not sure but I think they talk about me behind my back...
Took this photo several months ago.
Quite cold today, but we're dealing with it. We had such beautiful, warm (for December - and in spite of the ice on the ground) weather the past two days, and that's made it hard to jump right into this cold stuff.
Still dealing with post-ice-storm messes.
Someone at concertina.net complimented my writing this morning, and when I reviewed my post I thought, 'Gee, that IS pretty good, today!' So, I'll add a copy of it, here:
We were hit pretty hard with the ice storm here, lost power on Thursday and just got it back last night. So, four days without power, for us; we're lucky -- a lot of the area still has no power.
Fortunately, we were able to go to relatives' and get warmed up. I stored my concertina and various other instruments and stuff -- parakeets, etc., with them. Slept at home in the cold, though, just layered on more blankets and kept the winter boots on at all times!
We've got tree limbs all over the place, a broken window on a shed, a bit of other damage. Phone line was snapped in two, but that's been fixed. Cable TV line snapped, but we no longer subscribe anyway...
The night of the storm was pretty strange. I thought it was an earthquake, didn't know the rain outside was actually ice and that I was hearing trees falling. Trees and branches fell the entire night. Though all power was out, I managed to text message with my daughter who was about 10 miles away -- things were the same there.
As I sat and played my concertina in the dark with a candle one night, after hurrying to keep my pet rabbit fed and his cage cleaned up, I realized that it wasn't just for fun or romance or meditation that people in pre-electric days played by candlelight. It's because they had to hurry up and do everything else while the sun was still up!
Some grocery stores, etc., have operated by generator. I went to CVS and had to use my flashlight to find what I needed on the shelf. The gas lines were very long at the one or two open local stations, since people needed gas for generators, I guess. Most stations were closed -- like everything else. So, I drove about 20 miles to a station my daughter told me was open and didn't have lines. If nothing else, when stuff like this happens, I want to remain able to GET OUTTA HERE!!! With my concertina, though....

('But don't eat red berries')
Took this on December 12th, 2008 the day after the ice storm. I have some pics of all broken tree limbs, too, but... enough of all that destruction. I'd rather look at something prettier. Though, all the fallen evergreen boughs did smell very nice.
It was a scary storm. Still not fully recovered!

Ahh... Some Warmth On A Cold Day!
The kalanchoe leaves soaked up the sunshine.
And my camera seems to be hanging in there, still... for now.

How Come 'Geranimom?'
One day, in a haste and so weary from toil,
I freshened my face with geranium oil.
How sweet, the aroma of that lovely flower!
But, it ain't so dainty, in rank of its power.
It's note is a high one; no subtle, earth scent;
Perfume bloomed around me wherever I went.
'Eww!' cried my daughter, 'You've stunk the whole place!'
She muttered, 'Geranimom,' making a face.
Then, this seemed quite funny; we laughed! The name stuck.
It suits my 'geranimal' blend of pot-luck.
I'm never real proper, no hybrid high-bred;
I'm mixed potpourri -- like the words in my head!
For, I know -- 'pelargonium' is the real name;
But, would it be proper, if I said the same?
'Geranium' -- that' what Geranimom wears;
But only, of course, when she's PUTTIN' ON AIRS!
This is a very old re-re-rerun. But today I changed my user name back to geranimom (from Moons-Ago Tunes) so that made me look for this picture and poem.

Brrrr.... and my fingers are numb now, too.

One of our little chickadee-dee-dee-dee-dees
My camera is starting to fall apart. The door to the battery compartment won't close all the way. But, anyway, I did get this pic... had to edit it quite a bit to ease up the blurriness and so on.
More I could say today but I'm tired. Goodnight!

Peaceful The Wondrous Night
The link above is for whatever updates and new files I add for the Christmas song, *Peaceful The Wondrous Night.*
It's one that I'll probably record alone on the concertina, rather than with that other bum, Tom (the other half of The Hallelujah Bums). Or, maybe we'll do a duet version of it, as well.
As indicated in the file names, the
Tune-O-Tron record ID is 1233.
12/12/08: MP3 of concertina added.
And, here's another link to the folder:
Froggie and Bunbun
Rest In Peace, dear Rocky Jake...
My rabbit, who lived to be quite old,
passed away peacefully during the night.
This photo is quite old (again). But it's
a favorite. I'd wanted him to pose near
the frog for a photo, and lo and behold,
he did just that!
This is another 'old' picture, but I haven't taken any new pics lately.
Guess I should spend some time with my camera, huh? Maybe I'll get something new.
I do play my concertina for this rabbit (yes, he's real!), and he likes it very much. He's a great little companion to have.

Podunk On Guard Duty
Beautiful November days, lately. Po is happy to be outside under the porch steps, where he can spy on everyone.
I'm glad it's still nice enough (on most days) to work outside. This year, I'm covering the porch windows with plastic again -- skipped a year, and we ended up having huge terrible ice packs on the roof that melted and dripped right in through the porch windows and made a big mess. That won't happen this winter!
I've done the worst of the windows, have one side yet to do.
Froggie plays on...
Yup. There can be days like this. But, even through the worst of winters, I still have my snow-covered garden ornaments, like Froggie, to cheer me up by comparison. I am always allowed to play my squeezebox inside, where I have (so far) never been buried in a pile of snow.
And dear old Froggie, he just keeps on playing, anyway, doesn't he? He's a brave soul.
But some days (and nights) are much better.
