Skinks, Superfamily Scincidae

Skinks are the most widespread and diverse lizard group in Australia, occupying habitats from the intertidal zone to the tops of the coldest Australian mountains. While typically smooth, small, shiny lizards, some exceptions like the shingleback and the legless skinks in the genus Anomalopus do occur.
