Asian bittersweet and American bittersweet

The non-native asian bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) is on the left, and the native american bittersweet (Celastrus scandens) is on the right. In the asian bittersweet, the flowers and fruit are borne at the leaf axils. In the native species, the flowers and fruit form terminal clusters.
