Salton Sea Winter 2010

Sonny Bono Salton Sea Wildlife Refuge is an unusually rich habitat for wintering and resident waterfowl, shorebirds, marsh birds and land birds.

The Salton Sea is a major stop on the Pacific Flyway and supports one of the most diverse bird populations in the U.S. The refuge is located on the southeastern shore, about 40 miles north of California's U.S.-Mexico border.

Most migratory birds are found in the Salton Sea during October to February.
