Mt. Talbert is a towering peak 1.5 miles from where we live and soars to an elevation of 750 feet with a base at an elevation of about 200 feet. Hard to believe it was only December 3, 2014 the last time I took pictures here. Seems like ages ago

It was 36° at the trailhead when I got there about 7:30 AM. My finger tips froze! But by 9:00 they were thawing out.

I went on almost the entire trail system today, which supposedly is over 4 miles. I jog that distance every day in less than an hour over steep paved streets. But this hike in the woods with my camera took 4 hours, 15 minutes, and 22 seconds and was a nice rest day after eight days in a row jogging my 4 miles. Timing was 3 hours, 2 minutes, and 10 seconds to first and only rest stop and lunch near the beginning of the Oak Forest. 16 minutes and 48.24 seconds for rest stop. 1 hour, 56 minutes and 23.18 seconds back to trailhead.

Hike started at Mather Road Trailhead to right on Park Loop Trail to right on Cedar Park Trail to Cedar Park Trailhead. Turned around and hiked to right on Park Loop Trail past left junction to north side West Ridge. Continued on Park loop Trail to left on south trailhead to West Ridge Trail. Walk a couple hundred feet on West Ridge Trail and bushwhacked about 100 feet to a fallen log and sat there for a break and lunch. Return to West Ridge Trail and continue to right onto Summit Trail. Hike to summit and then down to right on Park Loop Trail back to left on Mather Road Trail to car.
