This is a scan of an old tin-type (ferrotype) handed down from a great-great aunt. I inherited 3 albums of photographs going back to pre-Civil war. Sadly, not a single subject is identified. Many have studio names, mostly from Champaign, Peoria and Washington, Illinois.
Note the wierd and elaborate studio setting. There are finger prints at the top made by the person who applied the varnish.
The paper frame has a pink backing which also extends to the side and folds over the face of the image for protection.
