Grizzly Bears of Katmai

A record of the best vacation ever. We booked through Rose Waldstein at Euro Alaska tours, 907 274 1596, www.euroalaskatours.com. Her bookings worked out perfectly and she kindly gave us a tour of Anchorage on the day of our arrival.

I can't recommend Katmai and the Katmai Wilderness Lodge too highly as a place to visit. Even if you are not a wildlife photographer, the landscapes are stunning, the fishing is great and the size of the lodge and its remoteness means there will be very few tourists around.

Katmai National Park is actually on the mainland of Alaska, west of Anchorage on the north side of Shelikof Strait. But there are no roads whatsoever, so you fly to Kodiak on Kodiak Island and then get a floatplane to the park
